A Proud Milestone for PATHWEL Center of Hematology & Bone Marrow Transplant

Pakistan Thalassemia Welfare Society (PATHWEL) proudly marked its international presence at the 67th American Society of Hematology (ASH) Annual Meeting, held in Orlando, Florida, USA, from December 6–9, 2025.

Our distinguished hematologist, Dr. Laila Khan, successfully presented a poster at this prestigious global forum following the acceptance of her research abstract titled:

“Chorionic villus sampling acceptability and therapeutic abortion compliance in beta-thalassemia minor parents: A study in a low-middle income country.”

The abstract was selected for inclusion in the highly competitive ASH 2025 Scientific Program, representing a significant academic achievement for PATHWEL and highlighting Pakistan’s contribution to global hematology research.

Dr. Laila Khan’s presentation showcased PATHWEL’s commitment to evidence-based research, thalassemia prevention strategies, and improved patient outcomes in low- and middle-income countries. Her participation at ASH strengthened PATHWEL’s visibility on an international scientific platform and fostered global knowledge exchange in the field of hematology.This achievement was made possible through the collaborative efforts of a dedicated multidisciplinary team. A new Partnership for Hope with CUST

On January 23, 2026 a delegation from Volunteer in Service Directorate (Capital University of Science and Technology) visited the PATHWEL. The purpose was to strengthen ties and explore new avenues of partnership in the fight against Thalassemia.

The visit culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the PATHWEL and VIS Drectorate (CUST). This agrrement marks a significant step forward in our mission to support patients and advance thalassemia care.

Visit of MD Bait ul Mal at PATHWEL

Senator Captain Shaheen Khalid Butt, Managing Director, Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal, visited PATHWEL on January 13, 2026. The PATHWEL team warmly welcomed him and presented detailed facts and figures regarding the financial assistance provided by Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal to deserving patients. During the visit, the Honorable Managing Director toured the Thalassemia Ward and distributed gifts among children suffering from thalassemia. He also assured continued support and expressed his commitment to future collaboration for the treatment and welfare of PATHWEL patients.
